Project overview

Whyalla is located on the western coast of the Spencer Gulf, approximately 390 kilometres by road north west of Adelaide in the state of South Australia. Whyalla is one of South Australia’s largest cities with a population of approximately 23,000 people.

Located centrally in Whyalla, the House and Land packages are a short walk to the University, local shops and hotels.

You may have heard reports of a property boom in South Australia, a view supported by many of Australia’s leading property experts. This has lead to a host of South Australian cities and towns regularly being declared as “investment hotspots”.

With the South Australian mining industry only just getting started the property looks strikingly similar to that of Western Australia ? pre 2001 and its savvy investors leading the charge in securing their property before the market moves.

  • Onesteel $200 million expansion at it’s Whyalla port, doubling it’s iron mining exports, involving additional receivable and
    storage, rail infrastructure, ship?loading conveyors and berthing
  • Planned $230 million Whyalla SolarOasis Power Plant (2013 start), creating 200 jobs, and enough electricity to power 9,500 homes, whilst reducing carbon emissions by 60,000 tonnes per annum
  • $80m redevelopment of Whyalla Hospital (completion mid 2013) including new Whyalla Cancer Centre and specialised rehabilitation facility
  • Expansion of the WhyallaWestland shopping centre under way to create the biggest retail centre in regional SA
  • $30billion expansion of Olympic Dam under way
  • BHP’s $1.3 billion Desalination Plant and Export facility planned at Point Lowly (near Whyalla), including a 320km pipeline to move the huge volume of water needed at Olympic Dam
  • Arafura Resources’ planned $1billion Rare Earths Complex at Whyalla, for processing of large?scale mineral concentrate transported from Nolans Bore Mine near Alice Springs
